
Head Coach
Kashif L. Johnson has over 30 years of organized basketball experience, including four years at Averett University which he studied Sports Mangement. Coach Stretch, as he is affectionately called, was named the inaugural basketball coach for The Virginia Neptunes in April of 2023.
Previously, Coach Stretch was the varsity basketball head coach of Hampton Christian Academy for two seasons. The most recent, taking Hampton Christian to the State Championship game in Divison IV of VISAA, which was the first trip in school history. In June of 2019, Coach Stretch was the varsity basketball coach for Williamsburg Christian Academy where he guided the Eagles to two consecutive conference championships and a state tournament birth in 2020. He spent five seasons from 2014 to 2019 as the top assistant for two historic programs
under two legendary coaches, Coach Ben Moore and Coach Eric Brown of Menchville and Hampton High School respectively. Coach Johnson is also the founder and director of TRIBENation Basketball Academy, a growing nonprofit focused on mentoring, and training aspiring basketball players and their families in all levels of competitive play.
Coach Kashif Johnson prides himself on being a God fearing family man, in his free time he enjoys relaxing and spending time with his loved ones.

Associate Head Coach
Sterling C. Brown is a graduate of Old Dominion University and has over 28 years of organized basketball experience. Coach Brown was named the inaugural Associate Head Coach for The Virginia Neptunes in May of 2023.
Coach Brown was the boys varsity basketball assistant coach of Hampton Christian Academy during the 2022-2023 season under Coach Kashif “Stretch” Johnson. For the first time in school history, they led Hampton Christian to the State Championship game in Division IV of VISAA. From 2018 to 2022, under Coach Kevin O’Mally, Coach Brown served as the men’s varsity assistant coach for Joint Base Langley-Eustis Raptors Coach Brown was pivotal in revamping and turning them into a top-tier level military basketball program. He served as the conditioning and skill development coach, where several players from the program were selected to All Army, All Navy, and All Air Force teams. During his tenure, Coach Brown helped take the team to #1 national ranking four years in a row and 3-time regular season champions in the WAMAC Conference.
Coach Brown is also the founder of AlphaElite Performance and Training, a small business focused on training athletes in speed, agility, endurance, balance, and
explosion.

Assistant Coach
Coach Jasmine Greene was announced as apart of the first coaching staff for the Virginia Neptunes in May of 2023. Coach Greene graduated from Hollins University in 2013 where is holds 16 women’s
basketball records including all time leader in points.
She was inducted into the Hollins University Hall of Fame in 2019. As a coach, Jasmine Greene has been with the JBLE Raptors for the past two years as an assistant coach, and was the head coach in 2022-23 and led the JBLE Raptors to a National military basketball tournament Championship. She is the 2023 WAMAC coach of the year.
Coach Greene is a Military brat that’s calls Hampton Roads her home. She is a proud mother of one daughter.

Director of Player Development/Assistant Coach
Derrick Gatling has been a part of organized basketball for over the past 18 years. A positive, competitive, passionate coach that displays dynamic leadership qualities. He is considered to be one of the top skill development coaches in the Hampton Roads area.
Coach Gat was named Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development for the
inaugural season of the Virginia Neptunes as of May 2023. Previously, in 2022, Derrick was the head varsity boys coach for Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, VA where he led them to a regional tournament appearance. In the year preceding, Coach Gatling was the head varsity girls coach of Smithfield High School, and they also made a regional tournament appearance, their first since 2016. In 2016,
Coach Gatling founded Star Catchers-non-profit group, which is focuses on mentorship
and mental health.
