Ed Huckaby Jr.
Biography
Ed Huckaby Jr. is entering his fourth season as General Manager of the Virginia Neptunes, bringing with him over 35 years of experience in basketball at the high school, post-grad, collegiate, and professional levels. Under his leadership, the Neptunes have continued to thrive both competitively and within the Hampton Roads community. Recently, Huckaby was named V-League General Manager of the Year following a successful season and securing contracts for four All-League players. His coaching career has included successful stints at institutions such as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he helped the Hawks reach the 2016 MEAC Semi-Finals, and Fishburne Military School, where his teams went 162-35 and produced 72 Division I signees. Huckaby's résumé also includes key roles at Woodside High School, Bethel High School, Wright State University, and Hampton University. While at Hampton, he played a pivotal role in the team’s back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including their historic 2001 upset over Iowa State. Earlier in his career, Huckaby made his mark as associate head coach at Owens Community College, helping the team reach the NJCAA Final Four and achieve national rankings. His coaching roots go back to Toledo Scott High School, where he led the program to a Division, I state title and multiple national rankings.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Huckaby’s career reflects a deep commitment to excellence, leadership, and player development across all levels of the game.
