Head Coach / President of Basketball Operations
Kashif L. Johnson
Biography

Kashif L. Johnson, known throughout the basketball community as Coach Stretch, brings more than 30 years of organized basketball experience to the Virginia Neptunes. A graduate of Averett University, where he studied Sports Management and competed for four seasons, Johnson was appointed as the inaugural Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations for the Virginia Neptunes in April 2023.
Prior to leading the Neptunes, Johnson built an impressive coaching résumé across Virginia high school basketball. Most recently, he served as Head Coach at Hampton Christian Academy, where he guided the program to its first-ever appearance in the VISAA Division IV State Championship game. From 2019 to 2021, Johnson was the Head Coach at Williamsburg Christian Academy, steering the Eagles to back-to-back conference championships and a 2020 state tournament berth.
Earlier in his career, Johnson honed his coaching craft as the top assistant at two of the region’s storied programs—Menchville High School under Coach Ben Moore and Hampton High School under Coach Eric Brown—where he served from 2014 to 2019. His tenure with these historic programs further shaped his approach to player development, team culture, and championship standards.
Beyond his work on the sidelines, Johnson is the founder and director of TRIBENation Basketball Academy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring, training, and empowering athletes and their families at all levels of competitive play.
Off the court, Johnson is a proud, faith-driven family man. He values time spent with loved ones and credits his foundation in faith and family as guiding principles for both his personal and professional life.
